Jherelle Benn, better known as Relle the Poet, is a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Brooklyn College and 10 years of writing / editing experience with local community and campus papers. Having appeared twice on cable television, featured in over 100 showcases over the last couple years, and performed for elected officials like Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, and NYS Senator Jesse Hamilton, she is no stranger to the stage.

Relle's music is influenced by singer/songwriters Lauryn Hill and Meshell Ndegeocello while her poetry ranges from painfully honest glimpses into her life (a la her favorite poet, Staceyann Chin) to tales of self proclaimed identity, liberation, and insightful observations of world events.

Growing up Relle felt like an outcast, so she used her writing as a positive and productive outlet to release her anger, fear, and confusion. Even today her hit single, "Happy Place", was the first song she officially wrote as a means to heal others through poetry and music. Now she dedicates herself to sharing this gift of creativity with the world by conducting youth poetry workshops, performing, and visiting Rikers Island monthly to share inspirational poetry with incarcerated men and women as a program director of Green Earth Poet's Cafe.

Relle is available for booking!
